The inspiration for the Two Wives Wine Company came from the many women whose resilience, sense of humor, love, and support affect our everyday lives. We admire these women and women like them who share common goals for good health, love and balance. It is important for us to participate and support causes that concern women in our society. Two Wives are proud supporters of the Breast Cancer Fund. We are committed to raising funds for this organization. To date, we have raised $20,930. We know that none of us are immune from disease and its effect on people we love. Our contribution will make a difference.

This very special story was written by my dearest friend in the world—Meredith Cleasby. She is the most selfless person I have ever known as she is always thinking of others (as her story very clearly states) before herself.

She has been involved with the Breast cancer 3-day for more then 5 years. She walked for my sister (Madelyn) after hearing she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She walked again after my sister was in remission. She walked November 2005 in memory of my sister who lost her fight with Breast cancer October 15, 2004.

It is important that as you read her story you understand that you don’t just wake up one morning and decide to walk 60 miles, it takes days, weeks, months of training, it takes a true commitment. Meredith trains mile after mile everyday in the rain, cold, snow you name it. She continues to train with the walk coming up.

Christina and I will continue to do all that we can to raise money for Breast Cancer research in hopes that a cure is found soon. We are working hand in hand with the Breast Cancer Fund (www.breastcancerfund.org) and are looking forward to hosting events to bring better awareness of this terrible disease as well as raise as much money as possible. Please stay tuned as we will be posting information often and would love for you to attend, donate, and celebrate a cure with us.

In good health,

Elizabeth

“3-Peat”

It’s hard to imagine that I have walked three times in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. As I look back over my 3-Day journey, I think of those I love and of those that have lost their battle with breast cancer.

I walk for my Grammie.  At the tender age of 93, she is a two-time breast cancer survivor.  I am honored to walk for her.

I walk for my Mom.  At the tender age of 62, she crewed her first Breast Cancer 3-Day.  I am honored to walk for her.

I walk for Madelyn.  At the tender age of 51, she lost her battle with cancer.  Her spirit is carried with me during every step of the walk.  I am honored to walk for her.

I walk for Sophia and Lauren at the tender ages of 3 and 12, may they never have to know the struggle that is cancer.  I am honored to walk for them.

My 3-Day experience first began in April of 2002.  I took on this life-changing event and challenged myself physically, mentally, and financially.  $2200?  60 miles?  Could I really make this happen?  No one was more surprised than I was when I not only met but exceeded the fundraising minimum goal.  And no one was more surprised than I was that I was able to walk every step of those long 60 miles.  What I gave to the 3-Day paled in comparison to what the 3-Day gave to me—empowerment and a community dedicated to eradicating breast cancer as a life threatening disease.

I walked in November of 2003 and was again humbled by the journey.  It may have been a different route and I may have had new aches and pains but my commitment to the cause did not falter.

In 2005, I was blessed to not only crew two 3-Day events but I became a member of the 3-Day staff.  I was able to see the event from a different vantage point.  As a 3-Day Coordinator, I feel so incredibly fortunate to be able to help others as they begin their 3-Day journey.

I invite you to join the 3-Day in one if our fourteen cities or join an event in your own local community.  Come to the 3-Day to walk, crew the event, volunteer, line the streets showing your support, or come to Opening and Closing ceremonies.  You will not come away from the event unchanged.
